I'm Cool
Day 13

It has been quite a few days since I've posted, but this has given my manly main a chance to grow some more. My internet connection at home is messed up, so I haven't been able to get online except at work. Now, on with the post...

This morning, a lady walked by my desk and told me that my scruff was cool...and she was 100% serious. Is this lady blind? Does she have some kind of brain damage which causes you to think the most hideous things are the epitome of cool? Does she think a half shaven chiuaua is cool? In all honesty, my "beard" is NOT cool. Get an eye exam, weirdo. It looks like an undiscovered amazonian moss is growing on my face...

I wonder if I can win the Nobel Prize?

Creep
Day 8

You know how they say your facial hair grows the most while your asleep? Well, I think I had maximum hair growth potential today. I had a very slow day at work today, and the hours just crept by. Because of how dull the day was, I believe my body thought it was sleeping and stimulated further hair growth. Doesn't sound like a bad thing to me.

Phase 1 Complete
Day 7

Today I was called "Mr. No Shave" by Shirley, the lady who sits behind me at work. Apparently my supervisor hasn't heard me talk about No Shave November at all, and was confused by the whole situation. I then explained it to her. You could imagine what she thinks of me now.

Also, Dave, one of the other supervisors asked me about my "beard". Dave and I are buds, so it was fun to talk to him about it. I think he's very supportive of the cause.

Here are the pictures for today:

Drumroll please..................

You can actually see hair in these pictures! Check out the hideous patches that outline my jawbone. It's just absolutely disgusting, and it looks way worse in person than it does in these pics. If you look in the pic all the way to the left, you can actually see the hairs sticking out against the white background. Incredible. All I need is some flannel, and I'll be on my way.

The First Sighting
Day 5

Just as I had predicted, today was the first time someone noticed my facial hair. I was at work, and Janice (who I've dubbed "AL", which stand for Annoying Lady) pointed it out. I was reaching over the table, placing some papers into their appropriate bin, when she said something along the lines of, "Scotty's growing a beard." I then explained to the 5 other women there what I was doing, and they all seemed speechless. Of course, they should expect this kind of weird behavior from me. Nevertheless, I was right about today being the first sighting, and I'm pretty proud of myself (and my beard).

Actually, it's not much of a beard: it's just thick, patchy, stubble. You can actually see it in the pictures now, which means I'm making progress as scheduled. (I turned on my camera's light to help make it easier to see the hair).

Bear Grylls
Day 4

I was unable to update yesterday, but I don't think you missed much. It's day 4, and I can finally start to notice the hair getting a tad longer. I'm sure people will be able to see the hair if they look directly at my chin. Still, it's not much to brag about.

I'm watching Man vs. Wild, which explains the title of this post. I bet if Bear Grylls participated in No Shave November, he would destroy every other man in existence with the sheer awesomeness of his beard. Bear is the manliest man there is. Yes, even manlier than Paul Bunyan
combined with Bob Villa. I mean, his name is Bear. How can you not be manly with a name like that?

I've still got lots of days to keep growing my manly face forest, and I'm sure that I'll make Bear proud.

Patience is a Virtue
Day 2

I haven't notice much growth so far. Even though I expected this, I kind of wanted it all to grow as quickly as possible. Leave it to my poor hair growing genetics to ruin my November.
The pics don't show anything still, but I can notice a lot more stubble coming in by looking in the mirror. It will definitely be noticeable by Monday. I don't know if I'll turn any heads with my hideous patchy beard, but that's ok. By the end of the month, I'm sure I'll look like a pre-pubescent sasquatch.

The Journey Begins
Day One

Today was the start of No Shave November. The point is to not shave the entire month of November, if that wasn't already obvious enough. I think it originated as a pseudo-joke college students would do every year: just let your facial hair grow and not give a shit. I also read that it was to raise testicular cancer awareness. I doubt this is true, but it would be nice to get this thing involved with some sort of charity. When I asked my boss if it was ok for me to not shave all month long, he asked if it was for charity. I told him no, but either way, he was fine with it. I'm planning on taking a picture each day and writing my thoughts throughout the month, just to entertain myself, and anyone else who happens to read this.

So, here we are:

The hair has been growing all day, but, so far, not much progress. This is expected, however, since I don't grow facial hair very quickly. It also grows very sporadically, so I'm excited and horrified to see how it turns out. In the pictures, you can't tell any difference, but if I look in the mirror, I can see a very small stubble forming.
